Answer: The term "perfectible" is used to describe the quality or condition of being capable of improvement or becoming better. It refers to the idea that people, situations, or things have the potential to change for the better or to be improved upon.

Or in other words something that is not perfect, but can eventually be perfect.

Explanation: I have skimmed through a copy of the story "Marigolds" by Eugenia W. Collier for the first time and in my probably illegal copy of the story, The word “perfectible” dose not appear. So i'll just give you mine in the answer section.
