Explanation

Plug in x = -5 to get the following.


y = \sqrt{\text{x}+5}-3\\\\y = √(-5+5)-3\\\\y = √(0)-3\\\\y = 0-3\\\\y = -3\\\\

The point (x,y) = (-5,-3) is on the square root graph.

Follow similar steps with x = -4.


y = \sqrt{\text{x}+5}-3\\\\y = √(-4+5)-3\\\\y = √(1)-3\\\\y = 1-3\\\\y = -2\\\\

The point (-4,-2) is also on this square root graph.

Keep this process going to generate various points so we can draw a curve through them. Check out the diagram below. It shows the graph and the table of values. The points are labeled A through H. The decimal values are approximate.

I used GeoGebra to make the graph. Desmos is another good option I recommend as well.
