The process for adding fractions and adding decimals.

When adding fractions it's important to make sure that the 2 or more fractions you have have the same denominator (the bottom number)

for example

1/2+2/6

is not possible at the momment because the denominator for both fractions is not the same.

We can make it the same by finding the LCM(lowest comment multiple) of the 2 numbers.

In this case the LCM is 6

So we must remebr whatever we do the bottom we do to the top.

If we times the bottom number by 3 to get 6 we have to times the top number by 3.

This makes

3/6+2/6=5/6

Adding decimals is very easy.

First thing you need to do is learn to know how many decimal places there are.

9.879

here there are 3 decimal places. You count from the last number to the decimal place

if you are doing 9.879+5.3 this has a total of 4 decimal places.

So you are going to remove the decimal places from the numbers

and add 9879+53 and then when you get your answer go to the last digit of the answer and count 4 decimal places and put in your decimal point. And there you have your answer
