The way of nutrients recycling in which elements are constantly being broken down and/or exchanged to be reused between living and non-living components of an ecosystem. Two roles that are have an involvement in recycling nutrients are respiration and death/decay. Respiration is where all organisms convert carbohydrates to carbon dioxide. Death/decay is when an organism dies and their nutrients are recycled by decomposers.
