Write a poem, 20 lines or less, that retells "The Lady or the Tiger?" You do not need to rhyme, but may if you choose. (This need not be a narrative poem -- you may choose instead to capture a moment of the story or the emotions discussed at the end of the tale. Perhaps the poem will be from another point of view -- that of the man, or the girl-bride, or the tiger. Feel free to be creative.)

In the arena's hushed domain,

A choice of fate, a life in twain,

A lover's heart caught in a snare,

Two doors, a girl's wild, knowing stare.

Behind one door, a tiger waits,

Fierce hunger, doom, and certain fates,

Behind the other, love's embrace,

A maiden fair, a gentle place.

Her heart ached deep, torn in despair,

Would she reveal the truth laid bare?

The princess knew the truth concealed,

The door to life or death revealed.

In shadows cast, love's secrets hide,

A tale of passion, woven wide,

Two paths diverge, a world apart,

A choice that rends both mind and heart.

So stands the tale, forever told,

Of love and choices, bold and old,

And in the silence, echoes ring,

The lady? The tiger? Let mystery cling.
