To factorise 6x² - 23x - 4 ,

We will first split the middle term into two numbers that when added give -23 & when multiplied gives 24.

  • 6x² - 24x + x -4

Now, draw the common term out

  • 6x(x-4) +1(x-4)

Then, arrange them into factors

  • (6x-4)(x-4)

Therefore, the value of x would either be 2/3 or 4 .
