it is vertically translated down one unit and horizontally right 3 units. so,

g(x)= |x+3|-1

It’s the same equation only positive because those lines surrounding the x is there to change the equation to the opposite but it can only be changed if it’s negative because the answer will always be positive if you have those lines surrounding the x.
