Explanation:

Let Side of Square A = a
Side of Square B = b

Given that,
area square B = 32 sq.cm
area of square =
`(side)^2`
∴ For Square B ⇒
`(b)^2 = 32\\`
⇒
`b = √(32)\\\\b = 2√(8) cm`

Now,

Side of Square A ⇒ a = Side of Square B + x
⇒ a = b + x
and we know that
`b = 2√(8) cm`
∴
`a= 2√(8) + x` cm

It is also given that,
a + b = 8

⇒
`8 = 2√(8) + x + 2√(8)`

⇒
`8 = 4√(8) + x`

∴ x =
`8 - 4√(8)` ( which can also be written as) ⇒
`8-8√(2)`
