Answer: Y= -4

We are given the following:
2y-8=4y\\

In order to find Y, we have to isolate it so that it only ends up on one side. We can do this by subtracting 2y on both sides leaving us with
-8 = 2y

Lastly, we would do -8/2y to get y by itself being
-4 = y

We can check our answer by plugging in -4 into the equation as seen below.
2(-4)-8=4(-4)

And since they both amount to -16 on both sides, this answer is true.
