Three functions are given below: f(x), g(x), and h(x). Find the axis of symmetry for each function, and rank the functions based on their axis of symmetry (from smallest to largest). Show your work for OR explain how you found each axis of symmetry.

f(x) = -4(x − 8)2 + 3
g(x) = 2x2 − 16x + 15
h(x)= the picture

Answer:

Explanation:

f(x)=-4(x-2)²+3

put x-2=0

axis of symmetry is x=2

g(x)=-2(x²+8x)+15

=-2(x²+8x+4²-4²)+15

=-2(x+4)²+32+15

=-2(x+4)²+47

put x+4=0

axis of symmetry is x=-4

h(x) is minimum at x=1

axis of symmetry is x=1
