Answer:

y = x + 1

Explanation:

y = mx + b

To write the equation, we need the m (slope) and the b (y-intercept)

Slope:

Slope is the change in y over the change in x. You find the change by subtracting.

The y values are 5 (4,5) and 7 (6,7).

The x values are 4 (4,5) AND 6 (6,7)

(7-5)/(6-4) =
(2)/(2) = 1

The slope (m) is 1.

y-intercept:

Choice one of the points given. I am choosing (4,5)

Use the y of 5 from the point (4,5).

Use the x of 4 from the point (4,5).

Use the slope (m) of 1.

Plug these numbers in to the equation and solve for b (y-intercept)

y = mx + b

5 = 1(4) + b

5 = 4 + b subtract 4 from both sides

1 = b.

The y-intercept (b) is 1.

The equation is

y = mx + b

y = 1x + 1 or y = x + 1
