I think the best theme for Othello is jealousy. It's developed over the course of the text through the relationship between Othello and Iago. Iago's manipulation of Othello leads him to believe that his wife, Desdemona, is unfaithful. Othello becomes consumed by jealousy and eventually kills Desdemona. This shows how jealousy can lead to tragic consequences.
