The Great Compromise was a very important issue in the forming of the government we have today. The Great Compromise is what created the House of Representatives and the Senate. This happened because small states such as Massachusetts felt like there should be a fixed amount of representatives for each state, while the bigger states believed the amount of representatives should be set based on population. So the smaller states got their way in the Senate, and the large states got their population representation in the House of Representatives.
