During an interview, it is generally acceptable to ask the candidate if he/she is related to anyone that works at the company; however, it always is important to approach questions of that sort in a way that doesn’t influence bias or preferences. Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in terms of discussing possible employee relations is very important because the interview focuses on the candidate’s position, skills, and experience. Without these, it would not really be acceptable to approach a question regarding employee relations at all.
