Gilgamesh was a mighty warrior who possessed immense physical strength, making him almost invincible in battles. For example, in Tablet I, Gilgamesh single-handedly defeated the ferocious Humbaba. Furthermore, Gilgamesh's journey to self-discovery is a quintessential feature of an epic hero. Throughout the story, Gilgamesh goes through a transformation from an arrogant king to a wise and compassionate ruler. This is best exemplified in Tablet X when Gilgamesh comes to terms with his own mortality and accepts his fate as a mortal being.
