A bag co tains a collection of colored marbles: 1/3 are orange, 1/2 are turquoise, 1/8 are purple, and the remaining 20 are fuchsia. How many purple marbles are in the bag?

Explanation:

Let the total number of marbles in the bag be x

x - x/3 - x/2 - x/8 = 20

24x/24 - 8x/24 - 12x/24 - 3x/24 = 20

(24x - 8x - 12x - 3x) /24 = 20

x = 20 x 24

x = 480

no of purple marbles = 480 x 1/8

= 480/8

= 60
