Several steps can be taken to evaluate an athlete with carpal tunnel syndrome. Like -

  • Physical examination and medical history: Tinel's sign and Phalen's maneuver may be present in the athlete to diagnose carpal tunnel syndrome. Associated symptoms may also be present.
  • Nerve conduction studies: It is a standard test to diagnose carpal tunnel syndrome.
  • Electromyography: It can show associated muscle damage in the body.
  • Imaging tests: X-rays, ultrasound, or MRI may be ordered to know the extent of damage caused.
  • The evaluation process may vary depending on the individual's symptoms and medical history.
