The American government is known as a individualistic and market economy.
America has a set belief that citizens can take care and provide for themselves. For example, unless you are under low-income, you must pay for your own health care insurance. In contrast, in Canada, health care is funded by the government through taxes.
Similarity, in America, seniors support themselves. However, in Canada, seniors receive support by the government.

The government has a variety of ways to intervene in the economy. They can do so through regulations, taxes, and subsidies. Examples include Roosevelt's New Deal, minimum wage legislation, crop subsidies, and the Troubled Assets Relief Program (TARP) of 2008.
