In chapters 21-23 of "The Kite Runner," Amir and Sohrab manage to escape from the dire situation by engaging in a dangerous confrontation with Assef, a violent and abusive individual. Assef has been holding Sohrab captive and subjecting him to mistreatment. In an act of bravery, Amir confronts Assef and fights him, enduring a severe beating in the process. However, Sohrab intervenes by using a slingshot to injure Assef and allow Amir to escape with him. Their escape is made possible by Sohrab's actions and their combined determination to overcome the obstacles they face.
