Governor General and President are not the same.
Governor General differs from the roles of the President in that:
• Presidents are elected typically by the people, while governor generals are appointed by monarchs to represent the Prime Minister
• Governor Generals usually are appointed in places with a form of monarchy government, while Presidents are elected in a republic or democratic form
• Governor Generals perform ceremonial duties, while Presidents take part in more executive functions such as communicating with other countries, serving as commander-in-chief, and approving or disapproving government acts
While the governor general and president seemingly have similar duties, they tackle different problems and represent different aspects of a country. Therefore, they are not the same.
