The leukocytes that are abundant, mobile, and quick to phagocytize cellular debris or invading bacteria are called neutrophils. They are a type of granulocyte and are the most abundant type of white blood cells in the human body. Neutrophils are known for their ability to quickly migrate to sites of infection or injury and phagocytize (engulf and digest) invading bacteria or cellular debris.
