Explanation:

split the side (the side facing us) into three rectangles. one rectangle immediately beneath top step, next under middles step and so on.

area under top step = (2 + 2 + 2) X 3 = 18.

area under middle step = (2 + 2) X 3 = 12

area under bottom step = 2 X 3 = 6

total area of this side (cross-section) = 18 + 12 + 6 = 36.

volume = 36 X length

= 36 X 5

= 180 cm³
