Laws can provide protection to victims of gender-based violence by defining the behaviours that are considered harmful, setting out penalties for those who are found guilty, and creating systems for reporting and supporting victims. A strong legal framework is an essential part of any effort to reduce and prevent gender-based violence. Citizens and communities can also play a role in supporting victims by providing moral and emotional support, donating to organizations and initiatives that work to prevent and reduce GBV, and raising awareness about the issue to help educate others on this important topic. There are many ways that everyone can contribute towards this goal.
