For RIGHT triangles , cosΦ = adjacent leg / hypotenuse

for this one cos 60 = x/ sqrt(8)

re-arrange to sqrt 8 cos 60 = x

sqrt 8 * 1/2 = x

sqrt (2 *4) * 1/2 = x

2 sqrt 2 * 1/2 = x

sqrt 2 = x
