Your other roommate says she doesn’t need renter’s insurance because the landlord must surely have insurance on the building. Is she correct? Explain your answer.

Answer: She is wrong

Explanation:

Although the landlord has insurance, it is only for the building itself. If any of your personal items get damaged, the landlord's insurance does not cover it. So, she should get insurance anyways.

Besides, this is assuming that the landlord actually has insurance. If the landlord doesn't, that is even more of a reason to get insurance.
