Answer:

Answer:

408.2

Explanation:

For this problem, I found the area of each face/side of the prism. 2 sides are rectangles with side lengths 5 and 10. 5•10=50, base•height is how you find area for a rectangle. There are 2 of them, so 50+50=100. Another rectangle has 17 and 5 as side lengths, 17•5=85. A small rectangle there has 6 and 5 for the side lengths, 6•5=30. Next, there are 2 trapezoids here, the area of a trapezoid is base1+base2•height/2. The 2 bases are 17 and 6. 17+6=23, 8.4 is the height, 23•8.4=193.2. Lastly, we divide 193.2 by 2, and we get 96.6. There are 2 trapezoids, so we can multiply 96.6 by 2, 193.2. I added up all the areas of the rectangular sides of this prism, it equaled 215, and added it with the 2 trapezoid sides (193.2). 215+193.2=408.2. We have all the areas of each side, so we add all, and get 408.2. Good luck on your test

\stackrel{ \textit{\LARGE Areas} }{\stackrel{ \textit{two trapezoids} }{2\left[ \cfrac{8.4(6+17)}{2} \right]}+\stackrel{\textit{left and right rectangles}}{2(10)(5)}+\stackrel{\textit{top rectangle}}{(5)(17)}+\stackrel{\textit{bottom rectangle}}{(6)(5)}} \\\\\\ 193.2~~ + ~~100~~ + ~~85~~ + ~~30\implies \text{\LARGE 408.2}~cm^2
