If side 1 and side 2 are LEGS of the triangle, then hypotenuse is found by

hyp^2 = 9^2 + 3^2 using pythagorean theorem

hyp^2 = 90

hyp = sqrt 90 = 3 sqt 10 =9.5 units

If hyp is 9 and 3 is one leg:

9^2 = 3^2 + L^2

L = 6 sqrt 2 =8.5 units
