Write a friendly letter to Edgar Allan Poe. Use the proper format. In your letter tell him what you think about him and his life and work. You should mention his use of irony. Give an example from the story and tell him how it affected the story, and you.

Yo, Poe my man!

Just wanted to drop you a line and let you know how much I dig your work. Your stories are wickedly twisted and your use of irony is off the charts. I mean, who doesn't love a good murder plot with a dash of humor thrown in for good measure?

Speaking of which, "The Cask of Amontillado" is a masterpiece. The way you use dramatic irony to build up the tension is sick. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, waiting to see when Fortunato would finally figure out what was going on. And that ending? So satisfying.

Thanks for being a literary badass and inspiring all us writers out here.

Cheers,
