Mitosis

- 2 identical daughter cells (genetically)

- diploid (full set of chromosomes)

- for growth, repair and replace (body tissues)

- one division

Meiosis

- 4 non-identical daughter cells

- haploid (half the number of chromosomes)

- results in genetic variation

- 2 divisions

- for sexual reproduction

- occurs in the formation of gametes
