What makes a poem different from a speech or paragraph? How are the choices of the authors of the poems different and how are they similar to other forms of literature?

Answer: Poetry differs from other literature as it allows you to ignore many aspects of literature, if that makes sense. You do not need to follow a punctuational standard and YOU as the poet have the power to create emotions, feelings, and thoughts. Sure, a novelist can do the same, but they need to worry about world building, characters, actions, and so forth. A poet focuses on one thing alone, making the reader connect to the poem on a personal level and feel great emotion through their use of imagery, figurative language, and other poetic devices.
