In all of my imaginings, I was filled with a sense that I would soon become perfect. My mother and father would adore me. I would be beyond reproach. I would never feel the need to sulk for anything.

Which detail from the passage demonstrates an extrinsic motivation?

If it's extrinsic motivation, then it's probably the 2nd sentence. "My mother and father would adore me," because they're searching for praise or approval.

Extrinsic motivation def: A motivation to participate in an activity based on meeting an external goal, garnering praise and approval, winning a competition, or receiving an award or payment.
