How can I get the answer for A= Vertex for y=-example-1

Answer:

1) a = 14

2) -4 (x - 2)² - 5

Explanation:

To obtain a vertex, you take h and k in a equation.

So a(x-h)²+k = a(x-2)² -5

For the point (1, - 9),

a[(1)-2]² - 5 = - 9

a(1) = -9+5

a = -4

so the final equation is

-4(x-2)² - 5

I'm not 100% sure about this but I tried. Let me know if it makes sense
