6. Both wars were related to communism, and the Cold War was a war fought between the U.S.A. and the U.S.S.R. about the idealogy of communism.

7. The Uprising of 1953 in East Germany was related to the Cold War as it was workers in East Berlin rising in protest against government demands to increase productivity. Within days, nearly a million East Germans joined the protests and began rioting across hundreds of East German cities and towns. The East Berlin forces were violently suppressed by the Soviet Union, showing that the U.S.S.R. played with the world throughout the Cold War.

8. a) President Lyndon B. Johnson attempted to pursue conciliatory policies with the Soviet Union, but the main focus of his time in office was the Vietnam War. He was also committed to the traditional policy of containment, seeking to stop the spread of communism in Southeast Asia and elsewhere.

b) President John F. Kennedy was warned of the Soviet's growing arsenal of intercontinental ballistic missiles and pledged to revitalize American nuclear forces. And like his two predecessors, Kennedy adopted the policy of containment, which purported to stop the spread of Communism.
