Briefly discuss why the Arms Race became a huge part of the Cold War, and how, although dangerous, may have

actually prevented a full scale war from occurring.

If America and the USSR were constantly in fear of the opponent having more weapons, they delayed the war which eventually led to no war because of the fear of losing.
