Read two of the themes from The Great Gatsby.

A core value of Americans is equality for all, but in reality, people treat each other differently based on social class.

Through hard work and persistence anyone can achieve the American Dream.

These themes develop throughout the novel. Explain how the two themes build on or interact with each other. Use evidence from the novel to support your answer. Respond to at least two of your peers' posts by asking questions about others' ideas, clarifying or challenging conclusions or evidence, and discussing any contradictory evidence or conclusions.

Through the novel you learn about how gatsby has worked to earn his money and how Tom had it given to him. You also see nick move through his like attempting to go up in the social ladder. Nick is socially viewed as less than nick and gatsby. However he befriends the both of them. The American dream can be seen as achievable because gatsby started as dirt poor and ran away from his old life. He joined the military and met daisy. He became “the great gatsby” because of how he worked hard and persevered to reach his American dream
