Why was a large class of landless poor a source of growing unrest

Because the plebeians wanted political power and a chance to move up through the ranks, but they weren't allowed to marry patricians. This was because the wealthier farmers would take away land from the poorer farmer, this led to a decline in the number of small citizen farms.
