distance / rate = time s = plane speed w = wind speed

Flying with wind 1053 / ( s+ w) = 1.75

solve for s = 601.714 -w

Flying against wind 1053 / (s-w) = 2.75 sub in for s (above)

1053 / ( 601.714 - w -w ) = 2.75

solve for w = 109.27 mi/hr

sub this 'w' into one of the equations to solve for 's'

1053 / ( s + 109.273) = 1.75 shows s = 492.44 mi/hr
