point your left thumb in the direction of the
current
and your left fingers in the direction of the
motion
. The direction in which your left palm faces is the direction of the
magnetic field.
In this case, if the motion is away from you (
i.e., in the direction of your eyes
), and the current is left, then the magnetic field will be directed upwards.
