Messalla is nearly killed in the explosion, while Mitchell loses both his legs and Boggs loses his left calf. As Boggs lies in a pool of his own blood, he transfers his Holo security clearance to Katniss. The healthy squad members help the injured escape. Peeta snaps during the escape and tries to kill Katniss.
