y = (1)/(4)x - 5
 and that passes through the point ( -3, 1 )​

The slope of the parallel line is the same: m=1/4

So, the equation of the parallel line is y=x/4+a

To find a we have ti use the fact that the line should pass through the given point:

1=(1/4)x(-3)+a.

Thus a= 7/4

Equation of the line should be y= x/4 +7/4.
