Polydectes wants to get rid of Perseus, who he sees as a threat to his power. To do this, he creates a plan to send Perseus on a dangerous mission to bring him the head of the Gorgon Medusa, hoping that Perseus will not return alive. Polydectes' real goal, however, is to get closer to Perseus' mother, whom he desires romantically but cannot have as long as her son is around.

i hope that helped!
