Is there a name for an imperative sentence that has a question attached at the end? Essentially a command that chickens out at the end.

Example: "Begin now, would you?"
This isn't important, it's just been bothering me. Is it just weird syntax or is it just an interrogative sentence?

Answer:The type of sentence you described is called a "tag question." A tag question is a declarative statement followed by a question tag, which functions to turn the statement into a question or to seek agreement or confirmation. In your example, "Begin now" is a declarative statement and "would you?" is a question tag seeking confirmation.
