the bedroom rectangle is 12 * 14 feet, the closet rectangle is 2 * 8 ft.

to floor these rectangles, we need some amount of surface area of flooring

multiply them out to find their individual areas

12 * 14 = 168

2 * 8 = 16

add them

total area = 184

since we multiplied length by width, or like a square, and the units are feet, this is 184 square feet
