Practice Makes Perfect

POETRY WRITING ACTIVITY
1. With a time limit of five minutes, write a paragraph on any
topic. It must be 50 words long....no less, no more. Your
teacher may provide an idea prompt for you such as, my
favourite things, what i had for breakfast, my true love, the
outdoors, my best friend, etc.
2. When the time is up, you will have a few minutes to CUT
10 words from your paragraph. Do so carefully, as piece
must still 'make sense.
3. You may wish to share your paragraph with others at this
point.
4. Next, you will CUT 15 more words, taking it down to 35 in
total. Don't hesitate to allow the piece to evolve or shift its
original context.
5.CUT a further 15 words....it's starting to get tricky isn't it?
6. Finally, CUT 10 more words. The remaining ten should be
descriptive, emotive and appealing.
7.Share your abstract poem with others!

Answer:

Topic: My morning routine

Step-by-step explanation:

I wake up prior to sunrise every day. Stretches and water start my day. Brushing and washing my skin follow. After making coffee, I read the news. Finally, I dress for an early walk.

I get up early every day. Water, stretch. Brush, wipe. Coffee, news. Walk.

15 more lines cut: Wake early. Brush, wipe. Coffee, news. Walk.

15 more lines cut: Rise early. Brush, wipe. Coffee, news. Stroll.

Early morning. Drink, read. Wander.
