How far could Japanese artillery guns shoot when they fought the russians

While artillery fires in a horizontal direction, mortars in a more vertical direction. Mortars had largely fallen out of use in the 1800s, however, the Germans saw the potential while observing the Russo-Japanese War in 1905.
