Florida is part of a landform of the southeast portion of North America that consists of mostly flat landscape not much higher than sea level. This is called the Atlantic Coastal Plain. The Atlantic Coastal Plain extends along the eastern coast of North America from New York to Florida and is characterized by its low elevation, sandy soil, and extensive wetlands.
