equation?


Solve the following equation
-4(x + 5)-2 = 6x

if an equation needs only one step to isolate the variable, it is 1-step. For example, 4x=16, which means x=4. Generally I’m not sure of a way other than that to know if an equation is one step or multi-step.


-4(x+5)-2=6x

So, use distributive property.

-4x-20-2=6x

Add 4x to both sides.

-20-2=10x

Solve -20-2.

-22=10x

Divide 10 from both sides.

x=-10/22

Simplify

x=-5/11
