The rotor generates a moving magnetic field around the stator which will induce a difference in voltage between the windings of the stator. The coil in the generator will move in one direction and as rotation continues, the coil will move down and this will reverse the current. This means current will be constantly changing, which is why we call it an Alternating Current (AC).
