The diagram below shows two similar triangles.

If tan (theta)= 1/5, what is the value of x, to the nearest
tenth?

perpendicular(p)=2.4(:. both triangles are similar )

base(b)=x

now

tan theta =p/b

or 1/5 =2.4/x

or x=2.4/(1/5)

=2.4×5

=12
