The diameter of our giant circle is 6ft, so the radius is half of that. The radius is 3 feet.

The area of the circle is:

Area_circle

= pi • r^2

= pi • 3^2

= 9pi

They said to use 3.14 for pi.

= 9(3.14)

= 28.26 square feet

BUT we are looking for the area of a sector. "sector" means like a pie slice of the circle. So we can divide the area of the whole circle into 6 pieces. Divide by 6.

Area_sector

= 28.26/6

= 4.71

BUT they wanted the measure in square inches and we have calculated square feet.

There are 144 sq inches in 1 sq foot.

4.71 × 144

= 678.24 sq inches
